Updated 2026-10-20 · Based on: supplier bulk densities (gravel ≈ 1.4 tons per yd³).

How to use the Sod Calculator

  1. Measure the lawn length and width.
  2. Keep 5 % extra for cuts around beds and paths.
  3. Enter your price per ft² or per m².

Formula

Pieces = area ÷ 2.67 ft² (one 16 × 24 in piece). Pallets = area ÷ 450 ft² (pallets range 400–500 ft²).

Metric turf rolls are usually 1 m² (0.4 × 2.5 m), about 50 m² per pallet.
